Crystal Palace appoint Oliver Glasner as new manager after Roy Hodgson steps down

Crystal Palace have announced Oliver Glasner as their new manager, following the departure of Roy Hodgson.

Glasner, who is 49 and led Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League victory in 2022, has agreed to a two-year contract with the Premier League club.

In a statement, Crystal Palace said: “Crystal Palace F.C. are pleased to confirm the appointment of Oliver Glasner as manager.

“The 49-year-old Austrian has signed a deal to become the Eagles’ boss until the end of the 2025/2026 season.”

The news of Hodgson’s departure came just hours before their league match against Everton. The club confirmed that the 76-year-old, who was taken to hospital after falling ill during a training session on Thursday, was “out of hospital and doing well”.

Steve Parish, the chairman of Crystal Palace, expressed his delight at Glasner’s appointment, saying: “I’m delighted to welcome Oliver to the club. He has an outstanding record, and we believe he is the right manager to take the club forward at this pivotal stage.”
