Sergio Reguilon joins Brentford on loan deal from Tottenham
Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon has joined Brentford on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 Premier League season. The Spaniard’s move across the capital comes after Manchester United activated a break clause in their loan agreement with Spurs at the beginning of January.
Not in Ange Postecoglou’s thinking for the season, Reguilon had initially linked up with the Red Devils on loan in September due to a lack of available numbers at left-back at Old Trafford. Going on to make 12 appearances for the club in all competitions but often finding himself on the bench with Erik ten Hag chopping and changing in the position, Reguilon returned to Spurs once Luke Shaw had made his comeback from injury.
Always looking on course to depart Tottenham Hotspur Stadium once again, Reguilon has now signed a loan deal with Brentford until the end of the campaign having completed a medical in west London. As first-choice left-back Rico Henry looks set to be out of action for the rest of the season after suffering a significant knee injury back in September, Reguilon will have the opportunity to feature regularly in the Bees’ final 19 league games.
