Victor Osimhen contract details revealed as Arsenal ‘make contact’.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is nearing a contract extension, with an agreement close, according to Italian outlet Rai, via CalcioNapoli24. It is claimed that the player’s agent, Roberto Calenda, met Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis earlier this week to discuss formalising terms regarding new deal, with the meeting being a positive one.
The Nigeria international’s new contract will reportedly have a €130million (£112million) release clause, which is said to be a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to make sure that the 23-year-old’s exit from the reigning Serie A champions is peaceful. The report goes on to claim that Arsenal have already made contact with the aforementioned Calenda.
The Gunners have several options in attack, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah and Kai Havertz all operating through the middle this term. However, none of those players are as prolific as Osimhen, who netted 26 times in the Serie A last season.
It remains to be seen whether or not a move will materialise for the former Lille frontman, who will likely have a host of other top European sides chasing his signature, one being Chelsea. The Blues certainly hold an interest in the Napoli centre-forward ahead of the January transfer window.
